Ms. Glarakis praises her experience and her therapy from the team at Luxor at Mills Pond

Former Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Mills Pond and Medford, New York resident Marie Glarakis, 51, hasn’t had it easy over the past few years on her road to living a stable life in the physical sense even as a paraplegic. The former NYPD and Suffolk County officer has a huge heart in spite of dealing with a cancer diagnosis and radiation treatment that harshly affected her spine and had to get a reverse total shoulder replacement. It was nearly a year ago that Marie was admitted to the 250-bed skilled nursing facility on Moriches Road in St. James from Memorial Sloan Kettering and to this day, Ms. Glarakis praises her experience and her therapy from the team at Luxor at Mills Pond. It was there that she will never forget when she was finally able to sit on the edge of her bed and not in the wheelchair that she had been confined to.

Ms. Glarakis deeply thanks the Luxor Mills Pond therapy team for the progress she made there, embracing both the physical and occupational therapy, and was encouraged to keep her strength up and had her own willingness to do so. In early June 2023, Marie was discharged to an Assisted Living Facility in Patchogue and is doing the best she can be.
