Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Mills Pond With the Best Time to Buy Six Big Items

You always see the ads in the newspaper and commercials on television – whether it’s buying a car for the holidays, jewelry for Valentine’s Day, or furniture over a three-day holiday weekend. The secret, however, is to know exactly when to buy items that you may be planning to purchase this year in order to get the absolute best deal on them.

Luxor Nursing and Rehab at Mills Pond has six big-ticket items where timing the sale is key.

  • Cars

A good rule of thumb is to shop for cars during the final week of a quarter of the year (Mar. 31, June 30, Sep. 30, Dec. 31) because dealerships are desperate to hit both monthly and quarterly sales quotas, so you will have extra leverage in your negotiation. Among those four times, however, the best time for a new car is in September. That’s because the models for the new year come out in October, so dealers are looking to get the previous year’s models off their lots. April tends to be the best time to buy a used car.

  • Houses

If you’re looking to downsize, or your kids are looking for a new home, the best time to buy is in the cold-weather months. Specifically, November. More families move in the spring and summer so there’s less disruption to the school year, so there is more demand during those months. November is a good time because it’s right around the end of the year, and sellers may be more motivated to get a house off their hands by the end of the year for tax purposes.

  • Appliances

You may associate Black Friday with great deals on electronics and other gifts, but don’t overlook appliances. The end of November is also a great time to pick up a washing machine, dishwasher, or refrigerator.

  • Office Supplies

Back-to-school time is the best time to stock up on office supplies for the year. Many states also offer tax-free incentives on supplies (along with larger items like computers) for a weekend or two in August.

  • Clothes

If you plan ahead (and can stand not wearing the clothes for nearly a year), the best time to buy clothes is at the end of each season. For example, buy winter clothes in February and March when stores are rolling out warm-weather lines.

  • Cruises

With hurricane season beginning in June and really picking up in August and September, the late-summer and early-fall is the best time to take a cruise, but you’ll need to be flexible. Storms can cause diversions with your itinerary.
