Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Resident of Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond

Mother’s Day is approaching on May 12, and we welcome the families of residents at Luxor Nursing and Rehabilitation at Mills Pond to come visit Mom, and, if possible, take her out for an enjoyable day!

Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate mothers around the world. Many of our residents are great-grandmothers, and Mother’s Day is a time when they are filled with memories of all their loved ones.

Places to Take Mom for Mother’s Day

If your loved one is physically up for it, take her somewhere that holds a special place in her heart. For many, this will simply be the home of a loved one. Sharing a meal with those closest to her may be the best Mother’s Day present you can give.

The more relaxed pace of enjoying a meal and conversation at home could be preferred over going to a busy restaurant. If you’re not the type who likes to cook large meals, consider ordering take-out or catering from a restaurant to eat at home in a more casual setting. Grab paper plates and plastic silverware to make clean-up a breeze.

Whatever you end up doing, be mindful of Mom’s needs and her energy limits. While you may want to cram several activities into your day, remember that most seniors tire easily. Sometimes, less is more.

Celebrating at Mills Pond

For those whose health or mobility does not permit them to leave for a day-trip as easily, we encourage you to come visit Mom here. You may spend time together in her room, in any of our common areas, or in our picturesque outdoor courtyard. Be sure to bring a memento for your visita handmade card or a framed photo are lovely options. Also remember to take videos of others who can’t come and visit and share plenty of photos!
